Schenkelaars Dentists
Prices and reimbursements
The prices for dental treatments are set by the Dutch Healthcare Authority and are the same for everyone.
On the website of professional association KNMT you can find detailed information about fees and reimbursements..
Reimbursements for dental costs vary per insurance policy. Please check your policy to see what reimbursement you are entitled to.
Reimbursement of dental costs
We do not have contracts with health insurers. In most cases, this does not affect whether a treatment is reimbursed or not. However, the amount reimbursed may differ per insurer and also depends on your additional insurance coverage. Please check your policy or contact your health insurer for more information.
Reimbursement up to 18 years
The most common treatments (routine check-ups, fillings and fluoride treatments) are fully reimbursed through the basic health insurance.
Special dental care, such as orthodontic treatment, is not reimbursed through the basic insurance. These costs may only be reimbursed through an additional dental insurance.
Reimbursement from 18 years
From the age of 18, dental costs are no longer reimbursed through the basic health insurance. Additional insurance is required in order to receive reimbursement for treatments.
Reimbursement for full upper and/or lower dentures
The costs for a full upper and/or lower denture are reimbursed for 75% through the basic health insurance. You should take your deductible into account. The remaining 25% is your own contribution.
Reimbursement for partial frame dentures and plate dentures
The costs for a partial frame denture may be reimbursed through additional dental insurance. Your policy conditions will show what reimbursement you are entitled to.
Reimbursement for an implant-retained denture (click denture)
The costs for an implant-retained denture are reimbursed through the basic health insurance, after approval (authorisation) from your insurer. You should take your deductible and the statutory personal contribution into account.
Reimbursement for denture repairs
If a full denture needs to be repaired, this is usually reimbursed through the basic health insurance. You should take your deductible and the statutory personal contribution into account.
Repairs to a partial frame denture or partial partial plate denture are only reimbursed through additional dental insurance.
Reimbursement for relining (‘rebasing’)
Relining, after approval (authorisation) from your insurer, is reimbursed through the basic health insurance. You should take your deductible and the statutory personal contribution into account.
Payment
After your treatment, we preferably send the invoice by email. This saves paper and is better for the environment. Would you prefer to receive the invoice (also) printed? No problem at all. We value transparency, and this method gives you immediate insight into the costs.
If you have additional dental insurance, you can submit our invoice yourself to your health insurer.
We follow the payment terms of professional association KNMT..
Deductible
You pay a deductible if you are 18 years or older and make use of care covered by the basic health insurance. The deductible is a mandatory amount you pay yourself first; afterwards your insurer may reimburse additional costs.

Personal contribution
For dental prosthetic treatments that are reimbursed through the basic health insurance, the government has determined that you pay a personal contribution.
If you have additional insurance, this personal contribution may be reimbursed.
Always check with your health insurer in advance if you want to know the exact amount of your personal contribution.
